It’s been two months since my sweet little Avery Jane made her entrance into the world. As was the case with Grace, I can’t believe how fast it’s going and it also feels like she has always been a part of our family.
With Grace I was always thinking about the next milestone…one month old, two months old, sitting up, eating solids, turning one….
With Avery I’m just taking each day as it comes along. I already know roughly what the first year looks like so I’m focusing on savoring each day.
I sometimes find myself kind of bummed out at the end of each day. When Grace was a baby it was just her. I could stare at her all day and marvel at every little thing she did. But now I have two precious girls to take care of and it is often quite a juggling act. I try hard to make sure that Grace still gets quality time with me and I also want to keep the house in order so there are days that I carry Avery upstairs for bedtime and as I look at her sweet little face I feel like it’s the first time I’ve been able to study it all day.
Instead of feeling bad about that since I know it’s just how things have to be sometimes, I take those quiet moments that we have alone and I make up for lost time. I gaze into her deep blue eyes, I kiss on her chubby soft cheeks, I make silly mama sounds and outdo myself in an effort to get her to smile. I tell her how special she is and how much I love her.
She’s such a good baby. Really, I feel blessed beyond measure that she’s so easy going and happy.
Eating and sleeping are her specialties. She is a great breastfeeder and has settled into a great nap routine. For the most part she sleeps good stretches at night and is well on her way to sleeping through the night consistently. Thank you Jesus and Baby Wise!
A few fun facts…
She snorts like a little piggy all the time
She loves to have her legs and feet out of her jammies
She smiles daily, but we always have to work for it
She loves her daddy and smiles every time he blows “raspberries” on her cheeks
She’s still got a full head of hair and all of it on the top sticks straight up!
She loves bath time
She likes a clean diaper as much as the next baby, but she rarely fusses when she’s got a dirty one
She has a dedicated fan club and the president is her big sister!
She’s not a fan of having her arms wrapped up in her swaddle, but she sleeps really well when she’s snug in her little “burrito”
