I Need a “Do-Over”

I’ve been blogging since 2004 and instead of feeling like I really have a handle on it, I feel more like I’d like to start over from the beginning. I spent a bunch of time tonight reading blogs about blogging (now there’s a sentence that would have sounded like drunk gibberish in ’98!) and in all of my reading I’ve learned that there are so many methods for blogging successfully. I haven’t done any of them…lol!

I’ve pretty much thought of this blog as my own little corner of the world that my mom and a few close friends may want to peek into from time to time, but lately I’ve wanted more out of it. I’m reading all this stuff about “pursuing your passions” and “doing what you love” and I’ve been trying to figure out what that looks like for me.

And the thing I keep coming back to is blogging!

I’m not sure where things will go from here, but it may be worth a shot to take it a little more seriously if it’s something I truly love. We’ll see!

Sunday Confessions

Well, this is my first ever “link up”! I’ve read lots of blogs that have a weekly link up but I’ve never participated until now. I’m linking up over at hormonal imbalances for Diana’s Sunday Confessions.

Here goes…I am a total spelling/grammar snob.

I find myself judging people who don’t write well. I’m not talking about casual writing like using all lowercase letters in an email or using “&” instead of “and”.

I’m talking about “there” instead of “their” or “they’re” and “your” instead of “you’re” and “definately” instead of “definitely” and “are” instead of “our”. I could go on and on, but I feel my blood pressure rising.

Sounds silly, I know. But I’m starting to realize that I’m very critical of these and other errors I come across when reading people’s emails, status updates, etc.

Now I know we all have occasional slip ups (even me!) but some people just can’t get it together when it comes to this stuff and I tend to be pretty judgmental about it :(

So there you have it. My Sunday confession.

iPhone Photo Dump

The bummer about the blogger app that I used to post my last entry is that you can’t post pictures :(

I’m on the lookout for a good blog app that does allow picture posting. I’m even willing to pay, but the apps I’ve checked out have pretty crappy reviews. I’m never sure how much to trust the reviews because you only get them from people who really love or really hate the thing. And it all depends whose stuff is on top because I generally only read the top 10 entries. I’ll continue researching because I’d like to be able to blog on the go….might make me more consistent because after the long workday I want to get as far away from the laptop as possible!

I have a lot going on these days. Mostly personal stuff that I don’t feel comfortable putting on my blog for the whole world to see. I just haven’t quite got the “cajones” that Blair had when she went really public with her blog. I’m hoping to get there though. It’s so much better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you’re not, but that’s a tough one for a co-dependent gal like me. I’ve also gotten pretty hooked on Diana’s blog Hormonal-Imbalances. Her honesty inspires me too. I wish I could chat with these girls over a plate of fresh chocolate chip cookies and work through the process of deciding that you’re going to really put it all out there.

Some people might see blogging as a highly narcissistic hobby. Like, “Who in the hell cares what you did or thought or ate or wore today?”. I don’t see it like that. I see it as a way for people to share their stories. Encourage others who may be in similar positions in life. Inspire people to take risks and get creative with their lives.

I wonder if Jesus would have a blog if he physically walked the earth today. If he did, I’d totally follow it J
