One of my very favorite things about fall is going to the cider mill.
I literally start thinking about it in August as a way to console myself that summer is coming to an end.
Visions of jeans, sweaters, cider and crispy warm donuts make me smile and look forward to the colder months. I always imagine that we’ll go “cider milling” several times over the course of the season and we always manage to go just once.
But don’t you worry…we make sure to consume enough cider and donuts to compensate for all the other times we won’t be going :)
Before we had Grace, we’d bundle up and make the almost hour drive to our favorite cider mill where we would stuff our faces, wander around the little shop and head back probably less than an hour after getting there. We always felt silly for driving so far to essentially just eat and run.
The first time we brought Grace along with us, we realized that these kinds of trips were infinitely better with a child in tow. Experiencing everything through her little lens makes it so much more exciting for all of us.
And each year it keeps getting better and better :)
Let’s remember a few past visits before I bombard you with photo’s from this year…
And now this year…
Even though we went really late in the season this year, we had a great time. The weather was good and the place was nearly empty…just how I like it!
I’m very thankful to live in a place that has a variety of local cider mills. It’ll be sad if we get placed somewhere that doesn’t have them when we move for Andy’s residency. I guess I should just make sure to go often in the next 4 years or fly back to Michigan every fall :)

Love the photos.. Rebecca you look beautiful like usual! Can you please not talk about moving.. I know I only see you once a month but seriously that will be sad.. and if it must be done.. Flying to Michigan for fall sounds like an awesome idea. I have a finished basement so it can be your apartment when you come home :)
