I read a lot of blogs.
Like so many that I don’t watch TV anymore. After a long day, I just park myself on the couch with my beloved iPhone and get busy catching up on a pretty long list of blogs that I love.
I should add them to my Google Reader, but alas, I do not have a Google Reader.
But I sure like throwing around words like alas.
Seriously though, I visit all of my favorite blogs individually by clicking through a long list of internet bookmarks on my phone. I have to skip through bookmarks of random recipe’s and other websites to individually access all of the blogs I follow.
This madness seems akin to having them written in pencil on a scrap of notebook paper and typing the web addresses in one at a time.
This isn’t 1995, there are solutions for this.
There’s an App for that!
I consider myself to be pretty savvy when it comes to all things internet. I’ve fallen for social media like it’s tall, dark and handsome. I can Google something faster than a cowboy in the Wild West could draw his gun. I can hack my way through html code in a pinch. Heck, I know what html code even is!
But, I’ve had some kind of mental block when it comes to “readers” (or web-based aggregators as they are technically called). It seems like everyone and their sister is using a reader nowadays to keep track of their favorite sites, but not me.
I’m all Laura Ingalls when it comes to this stuff and as much as I heart Laura Ingalls, those cute braids and pinafores aren’t going to streamline my web life.
So, I’m going to take the plunge and get myself hooked up with a Google Reader. The way I see it, I’ll no longer have to worry about the following:
1. Being totally OCD and checking my favorite sites over and over waiting for a new post
2. Forgetting to click on blogs that I love because I accidentally skim over them in my bookmark list
3. Missing out on awesome content on my “B List” of blogs (the ones that I don’t want to lose track of but only check periodically when I remember)
If you’re still confused (which I am too to be honest!), the reason I won’t suffer from 1-3 in the handy list above is because my Google Reader will pull new content from all of the different blogs into one list like an email inbox of content from my favorite sites.
I’m excited. Or maybe just intimidated. Or both.
I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!
P.S. If you had a reader and you followed my friend Diana, you’d know she’s giving away a $500 Oreck vacuum cleaner on her blog! Go on over and check it out, you don’t have to have a blog to enter, just a name and email address! Plus, if you’re a clean freak (hi Marie!) she does a video demo of how awesome the vacuum is. GO NOW and check it out :)

I ¡®m really inspired with your writing talents as well as with the layout for a weblog. Is this a paid topic or did a person modify it on your own? Anyway stay up the excellent good quality writing, it will be rare to look a wonderful blog this way one these days..
