For the past 2 years Andy and I have been wanting to replace our front porch light, address plate and mailbox. Almost every time we are at Lowe’s or Home Depot we check out the selection and debate on what style and color we want to get. We never buy anything, but I always look at our current stuff and hate how weathered and old it is.
I started to think about what I could do on a budget and I decided to try painting all of it. I bought 2 cans of spray paint and dove into the project head first. It was a little bit intimidating to unwire and remove the porch light, but I figured if I could take it down, I could put it back up.
I removed each of the 3 pieces from the front of the house, I wiped them down and sanded when necessary, then I sprayed my little heart out. After a couple of hours, I went back out, put everything back together and hung it on the front of the house. You cannot imagine how excited I was to flip the porch light switch and have the light come back on! I felt so cool!

It's too hard to believe that in a $10 bucks you can make a simple home improvement.

OMG… you are definately your father’s daughter!!! I only wish he would have taken a before and after picture of our mailbox. It sounds like you two were at it at about the same time. We had a yucky old mailbox and now with some “elbow grease” and spray paint we too have a new look for a fraction of the price of new!!! “Two peas in a pod” is what I have to say… Girl, it looks awesome!!!
I wish I was more like you…
Love,
Mom
