Yesterday Andy and I spent the day in Fowlerville, MI at my Aunt Becky and Uncle Ed’s house. We were celebrating my mom and Aunt Becky’s birthdays…they are 8 years and 1 day apart in age. They are now 29 and 37 respectively ;)
It had been ages since I was last in Fowlerville, so it brought back a lot of memories. I remember being a little girl and spending lots of time at my Aunt and Uncle’s sprawling ranch in the country. It was always fun to be greeted with giant smiles and my cousin Katey running out of the garage to meet us at the gravel driveway. Inside the house I’d be met with the familiar smell of the Alverson home and I’d hope that it would stick to me so that I could close my eyes and be transported back there after leaving. Have you ever encountered a specific scent that rushes you back to a familiar time or place from your past?
Yesterday was a smorgasbord of food, laughter, conversation and rest. We had a wonderful meal, a great family trivia game (which I won by 8 points over the competition!), and an overall great day. I will treasure the times that are spent with family…friends may come and go, but family is for life!

I feel like crying after first reading your entry about the family, then Aunt Becky’s comment. That is what I love about you Rebecca!!! I knew you were going to win the game because you care so much about the family and knowing its history.
