Well, I took the plunge and joined the gym near my house. I’ve been thinking about it for a while now since I drive past it every day. When I worked at Wayne State I went to the gym almost 5 days a week. It fit my schedule perfectly because I could work out during my lunch hour and I didn’t have to get up early or stay late. As much as I complained about that job, it really was an awesome situation. I think I might be the poster child for “hind sight is 20/20″…I never seem to fully appreciate things when I’m in the midst of them. I’ll have to add that to my list of 432 things to improve on.
So back to the gym…I forced myself to head over there tonight to check out the place and inquire about membership rates. I kinda had an idea of how much it would cost and I was almost right on. I have been putting it off mostly because of cost, but Andy recently told me that he would be totally cool with me signing up since he knows how much I want to lose weight and I’m sure partly because he’s sick of hearing me complain about it (yet never do anything about it). So I got the tour, filled out the paperwork, got my cool key chain access tag and a schedule of all the classes they offer. I’ll probably start by doing cardio and using the weight machines that I’m familiar with, but it’s awesome to have a full range of classes to pick from too. That will keep it fun and different.
Just being there for a few minutes tonight got me excited. I always feel so motivated when I’m at a gym around other people working out. The energy is inspiring.
My plan is to go tomorrow before work…I’ll keep you posted!
