Last night I painted our dining room!!! No more yucky light yellow! I painted it a warm, gold color called Torchlight. It was so satisfying to cover up all the dingy old paint. The previous paint job was really bad…I think they only painted one coat. Anyway, I decided to undergo the project completely on my own! Andy patched a crack in the wall, but I did the rest. It took about 5 hours, but it was absolutely worth it.
We found a really inexpensive corner cabinet at Naked Furniture in Royal Oak and I’m pretty sure we’re going to get it. It’s about 1/2 the price of the least expensive cabinet we have seen so far. I’ve been looking at finished cabinets that are already black, but I realized that I painted my table and chairs without too much trouble, so why not buy a naked cabinet?!?! It will be a little bit of work, but I already have the paint and supplies, so I’m not too worried. Once we get some new window treatments and a rug everything will be nearly done! I’m so excited to finish it!! I’ll be sure to post pics when it’s done.
Tonight I’m tackling the kitchen with a color called Red Bay….that will be a much bigger job!

Rebecca, you are the best! As I said tonight, I am SO glad I married an industrious woman. Out home is only going to get better. I love you.

Wow. Sounds like you’re making a lot of progress with the home improvements. We looked at a house that was advertised as having “all new paint”…Upon a closer look, it was just a slap up job…really bad. Anyways, I will be looking forward to seeing your updates. My parents bought a lot of furniture for Lizzy’s room from Naked Furniture and my Dad stained it. It looks great and tends to have more character than other furniture. -MTV (this time I identified myself:) )
