This weekend Andy and I went to my parents house to celebrate my mom and aunt’s birthdays and labor day. We headed over to Manitou Beach on Saturday evening and just came home tonight.
We really enjoy spending time out there…the land and atmosphere are so relaxing. Something about being away from the city is so healing. My parents live in a beautiful ranch that sits on 10 acres of rolling hills. We love to eat and rest the whole time we are there.
This weekend we celebrated the birthdays on Sunday afternoon. My aunt Becky, uncle Ed, cousin Katey and new baby Nora, Uncle Jim, cousins Christopher and Meggie and cousin Amy and Cal with Andrew, Caleb and Samuel all showed up for the festivities. We munched on cheese and crackers, taco dip and veggie pizza until our “dunch” (dinner+lunch) was ready…italian sausages with sauteed onions and peppers and zesty amogu (i think that’s how it’s spelled…garlic/tomato sauce). We also had salad, beans, potato salad, fruit and cakes decorated by your’s truly. I’m so cheesy…always posting about food. (no pun intended)
Anyway, my mom and I had lots of time to hang out and talk about everything under the sun. I’m so thankful that she and I get along so well…I really feel for girls who don’t get along with their mothers. Andy and John Paul spent hours on end playing PS2 games…male bonding I guess.
It’s funny, even though I don’t live there anymore, I had really been feeling like I needed to go home and when I got there I really felt like I was home. Maybe my parents house will always have that feeling.

Hey there,
I called you the other day. I miss seeing you and hearing what going on with you. I hope that this ebb will be followed by a flow (or is that the other way around?) :)
Hang in there!
