Things at work are still pretty busy, but my contributions aren’t really needed again until tomorrow, so I can write a few tidbits about our recent trip.
First of all, Andy and I were SO excited during the days leading up to the trip. I could hardly think about anytyhing else. Neither of us packed until the night before our flight, so we were both up really late finishing laundry and packing. I had gotten my first ever massage earlier that night, so I was relaxed and in a great mood! When I have more money I will definitely get massages on a regular basis. The 80 minute one that I had was out-of-this-world amazing.
After getting only a few hours of sleep, we got out of bed at 4:30am, grabbed our stuff and headed out to the airport. Traffic was decent and we checked in without much trouble. The flight was great and before we knew it we were at the Myrtle Beach airport picking up our rental car. We rented a brand new white Ford Focus. I’m not a big Ford fan, but the Focus is pretty cute and it’s not pretending to be something other than what it is…a small economy car. (I have a real problem with the Chrysler 300 it’s like it’s trying to be a Bentley but it’s not fooling anyone…it’s still just a Chrysler!) Anyway, as I was saying, we really had fun driving the Focus. It was different than our cars…it was new, clean and didn’t have any weird sounds or illuminated “check engine” lights. Here is a picture of me with the Focus on our date night. You’d think we’d never driven a new car before!
The week was awesome. The weather was warm and sunny almost everyday we were there. The day we got in and the day we left were both chilly and overcast. We had lots of fun laying out by the pool, playing frisbee on the beach, spending time with our nieces and nephews, eating dinner with everyone and reading alot.
Our annul trip to Lee’s Inlet Kitchen was awesome as usual. Andy and I pigged out on hushpuppies, shrimp and fried flounder. So yummy!
During the week we celebrated Mother’s Day, David’s Birthday, and Dad’s Birthday. That meant lots of cake!
I even brought my rollerblades along with me and I actually used them nearly every day we were there….that is probably the only thing that balanced out the multiple pints of Ben and Jerry’s I consumed!
The only sad part of the week was saying goodbye early, but we are already excited about next years trip!
