I had such a nice evening last night. I went to the grocery store after work to pick up a few things for dinner and for the rest of the week. I love going to the grocery store. I have no idea why. Most women find it tedious and mundane, but I actually love going grocery shopping. Maybe because I love cooking so much and the grocery is the first step in the cooking process…who knows. Anyway, I got everything I needed and then checked out via U-Scan…which I also love. Maybe that stems back to playing store when I was a child. I would frequently lay things out and set up a check out counter complete with monopoly money. I never had anything that even remotely resembled a scanner, but boy did I wish I did! However, U-Scan technology has made it possible for me to shamelessly scan item after item from my cart across the scanner, hear the glorious beep and even put everything in plastic bags that hang with so many other plastic bags on the cool bag dispenser thingy! (I also used to think it was so cool that the bagger could fill the bag and then just tear it off from the bunch, put it in my mom’s cart, and the next bag would be ready to go.) I might need counseling!! So, after my trip to the grocery store I came home and started dinner. We’ve somehow neglected to eat the proper amount of vegetables for the past 4 days or more, so I was sure to incorporate fresh green broccoli into our chicken and rice dinner last night. It was a pretty simple recipe, but it ended up being quite tasty.
