I just got back from our closing. I think it feels more real than ever now that we’ve signed our lives over to the bank! The seller was very sweet and I wanted to hug her as we were leaving, but I shook her hand instead…I didn’t want to freak her out.

She’s calling us on Friday night around 6:30pm to hand over the keys…yipee!

I never actually read the book Who Moved My Cheese? but I have an idea of what the premise is.

Basically, people have ideas about the way things should happen and then, ineveitably, something or someone comes along and messes it up (a.k.a. they move your cheese) and this results in bitter disappointment. I should probably read the book because it most likely gives insight into healthy ways of dealing with frustrations resulting from moved cheese. I tend to rant and rave to everyone I know…either in person, over the phone, or via my pink blog.

So, here’s what happened. I was told that I would be getting the keys to our new home at closing on April 3rd. I was delighted by this news and began to plan everything out as I always do. I was going to take most of the week off, have my brother come in to visit and help with random stuff, paint the kitchen and dining area before they were full of stuff, move all the boxes into the house and pretty much get a HUGE headstart before our official moving day of April 8. Andy and I rented a U-Haul for that date and everything was all set. Or so we thought…

I found out about 2 days ago that the seller won’t be out of the house until late Friday night or Saturday AFTER closing. This sufficiently moved my cheese to an undiscovered planet far far away. Now I have no idea where the heck my cheese is or when the heck I can move into my new home.

I’ve been trying to stay calm about the whole thing and realize that I might have possibly, perhaps, made the whole moving/house thing a bigger deal than I should have. I have a tendency to do that from time to time and God gently reminds me that He should be the biggest deal and that I should be more consumed with Him than with all this fleeting, temporary stuff here on earth.

I’m doing much better today. And, good news came this morning…we will get the keys on Friday night and we don’t have to reschedule our moving day. I will have to do all my painting, etc. after we move in, but I’m sure I’ll survive.
