So I told you all about my Friday night splurge…
but I refrained from posting about my Saturday night splurge.
I hate “too long” blog posts, so I figured I’d come clean today. Weigh-In Wednesday.
Long story short, even though I indulged on Friday night and have been trying to only have 1 cheat day each week, I had to let a little loose on Saturday too.
Well, I didn’t have to but it was another one of those life vs. plan situations.
My sister and I went to a bridal shower in the afternoon and while I did pass up the cake that was served, I had a couple of mimosas, a chicken salad sandwich, pasta salad and a square of veggie pizza. Nothing crazy, but about 861 calories which pretty much sunk my evening.
That night was the first sleepover at mom’s new apartment. The first page in a new chapter of our lives where we try to move on from our old traditions at the house and start finding joy in our new setting.
There are 2 main ingredients to our family time:
1. Music
2. Food
I think the order of those should probably be reversed. We love food and mom is a seriously awesome cook. Nice combo, don’t you think?
So, after the bridal shower we hunkered down in our comfy clothes, turned up the tunes and dug into the white chicken enchiladas, homemade guacamole and cheesy re-fried beans.
Needless to say, I blew my daily calorie budget. In a pretty big way.
I wasn’t intentionally stuffing my face or anything, but I was just going with the flow trying not to be rigid.
I have to get some kind of props for not having any of the Reese’s mini peanut butter cups that were tantalizing me from the candy dish, but that was too little self control, too late in the game to really help the situation.
I ended up having a great time. I connected with my brother after a long spell of keeping our distance. We laughed, shared new music with each other, processed through some of the divorce grief together and really bonded. Definitely worth the extra calories.
The next morning I was back on the wagon. I had a small breakfast, somehow managed to not order anything when Ellen got a sweet tea from McDonald’s (although that amazing greasy aroma in the drive thru nearly got me to cave!) and had a sensible dinner.
At the end of the day on Sunday, I was 17 calories under my daily goal. Not bad after 2 days of splurging, right?
Since Sunday, I’ve stayed on track. That alone is a pretty big feat for me since I tend to throw in the towel when I feel like I’ve blown it.
Baby steps.
I can do this.
Or maybe I can’t.
Today’s Weigh-In: up 1 pound.
Ugh.
I’m frustrated, discouraged and pissed off.
I know I’ve cheated. I know I’m not working out enough, but I’ve completely changed my eating habits!
I’m eating half the food that I used to! I’m logging all of my calories even when I go overboard! I’m fitting exercise in here and there!
And, not only did I not lose any weight this week, but I gained a pound. WTF?!
I’m giving it one more week and if I don’t start losing again, I’m going to have to reconfigure my plan.
Tell me I can do this. Tell me that you’ve done it or are making progress!
