Where has this week gone???
I seriously feel like I just posted Grandma Martelle’s Spaghetti recipe, but that was 6 days ago!
Ack!
It’s starting to feel like the remainder of summer is sand slipping through my fingers, and I’m responding by getting a death grip on it.
My summer bucket list is being tallied up in my mind and I’m gettin’ busy trying to maximize what is left of this glorious season.
I love fall as much as the next girl (can you say Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Pumpkin Spice Donuts Pumpkin Pie French Toast and Cinnamon Chip Scones??) but summer is my jam.
I adore the long days full of sunshine, BBQs, sprinklers, bike rides, trips to the splash pad and s’mores around the bonfire.
I love the heat and the relaxed vibe of summer and I don’t want to get into the dead of winter wishing that I had done more this summer.
So, I’m doing as much as I can.
One of the things we’re doing this summer is visiting the Detroit Zoo!
Our maiden voyage this year was on Grace’s 3rd Birthday and it was a fantastic way to spend our girl’s big day. She loved the animals (especially the stuffed giraffe that came home with us) and was excited to run around and explore.
We decided to buy a membership this year and I’m so glad we did!
An annual membership was only about $5 more than what it cost our family for 1 visit and it’s good until the end of July NEXT YEAR.

Because we now have full access to the zoo, I’ve decided to make it a priority to just hop in the car and go on a whim. Even if we only visit a couple of the exhibits, it’s worth it.
This post is basically a photo-dump from Grace’s birthday and our spontaneous visit yesterday afternoon.
I’m super excited that I’ve already gotten my money’s worth out of the investment and we still have so much more time to take advantage of it :)
What a great couple of visits! I’m looking forward to more this summer and into the fall :)
