Makes 4 servings.
Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes
BURGERS:
1 pound ground turkey
1 cup feta cheese
2 teaspoons Oregano Leaves
1/2 teaspoon Thyme Leaves
1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper, Ground
SAUCE:
1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
Black Pepper, Cumin & coarse salt to taste
EXTRAS:
4 whole wheat hamburger rolls
Romaine lettuce, tomato and red onion slices (optional)
1. Mix ground turkey, feta, oregano, thyme and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in large bowl. Shape into 4 patties.
2. Heat outdoor grill to medium high heat and grill the patties for approximately 5 minutes on each side or until they are firm to the touch and have an internal temperature of at least 165°F. OR heat a skillet over med-high heat and sautee in oil of your choice until cooked through, flipping once – midway.
3. Season yogurt to taste with pepper, cumin and sea salt (I’d guess I used about 1/2 teaspoon pepper, 1 1/4 teaspoon cumin and 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt). Mix until all spices are combined and refrigerate until ready to serve.
4. Serve burgers on toasted rolls. Top each burger with a hearty dollop of the yogurt mixture. Garnish with desired toppings.
