By now y’all know I’m really into making easy little crafts to spruce up the house for the holidays.

And when I say easy, I mean easy.

As in, I want to have all the supplies laying around and I want to be able to do them with my 3 year old.

This generally means a lot of holiday-themed paper cut-outs.

They may not be sophisticated, but they certainly are fun to make and very festive!

I’ve finally let go of my grandiose ideas of what holiday decor should look like and I’m actually decorating for seasonal holidays.

Spending YEARS wanting to decorate for the silly holidays like Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day but not DOING it was downright silly.

Perfectionism is a thief.

And that’s a fact.

Don’t wait until you can make or buy the perfect holiday decorations, just pull out some paper, glue and scissors and get crackin’!

Three year old little girls are a great motivator :)

We just packed up the St. Patty’s Day stuff to make room for SPRING (Michigan hasn’t gotten the spring memo yet, but we’re trying to be patient) and Easter decorations.

My mom has been buying holiday decorations for my past few birthdays which I LOVE (thanks mom!) so I started with a few cute things like this bunny and egg vase…

and this adorable carrot “wreath”

Grace and I hit up the scrap book supplies to make a few extra things to fill in the gaps.

Her favorite was probably this paper (we only had styrofoam) plate bunny.

I love the easter egg garland (we traced a bunch of ovals onto spring-patterned paper and strung them onto thin ribbon).

 

We had some leftover paper “eggs” and thought it would be cute to embellish them with glitter glue before hanging them around the living room.

Finally, we swapped the stones and twine around the candles for jelly beans and light green ribbon.

Easy peasy.

I think I may try to get some darker green or pink ribbon.  The light green is all I had, but I feel like it’s too subtle to compete with the bright jelly beans…

I almost hesitate to post these ideas because they are pretty self-explanatory and the farthest thing from chic and sophisticated.

BUT I’m hoping it might inspire you to go out on a limb and make a few things to decorate your house this season.  You’d be surprised at how a few simple paper eggs tucked around the living room can be a fun touch of whimsy.
