Hey ya’ll!
Today is my birthday!
Thirty-three is gonna be amazing.
I can just feel it.
I have seriously adored my thirties so far. My twenties were really difficult. I honestly remember feeling gypped that the decade that was supposed to be “so fun” and “so carefree” felt smothering and uncomfortable.
I went through so many growing pains and made so many mistakes and didn’t have the first clue about who I was or how to be comfortable in my own skin.
Thank God that’s behind me.
I know I’ll weather storms in the years to come, but so far my thirties have been very sweet.
They feel like a soft, ripped sweatshirt that is the perfect degree of worn in. Cozy but not too hot. Soft and loose and comfortable.
I’m glad I get another seven years to camp out here :)
My birthday celebration started the other night at my mom’s house. I packed the girls up and headed to mom’s house on Wednesday morning. She made us a scrumptious lunch and then my sweet brother watched the girls while mom treated me to a fabulous dinner out!
We fancied up a bit and headed to the Evans Street Station restaurant in Tecumseh, MI.
We started with wine and appetizers on the patio.
Then we headed inside and enjoyed a savory amuse bouche, scallops and a fabulous chocolate lava cake for dessert.
And Bubbly!
We ate and talked and laughed and had a really wonderful time. I know we both made sweet memories for years to come.
The next morning mom woke up early with the girls and let me sleep in.
Can you say HEAVEN?!
When I did finally wake up, she served me breakfast, entertained Grace, made an amazing lunch, took us all to the pool and watched the girls again while I napped.
I WAS TEMPTED TO MOVE IN FOREVER!
Lol.
It was a really great visit and started my birthday weekend off right. I feel so rested and relaxed today and I know that wonderful respite is to be credited.
The girls and I left her house after 8:00 last night and made the hour and a half trip back to reality. But not without appreciating the pretty scenery on the drive…
I may have had a barn picture taking problem! But seeing the rural landscape dotted with these quaint red treasures is so cool. Makes me appreciate the Big Mitten a little more :)
Pure Michigan, indeed.
When we got home last night and the girls were tucked into bed, I stayed up to read and paint my nails.
It’s still up for debate whether I’m too old for green nails. Lol.
This morning I woke up to sweet pink post-it notes from Andy and the faces of my two precious girls. We are going to meet Andy at school when he gets out at noon and then we’re going to spend the afternoon at a posh outdoor mall that has fountains for the girls to splash in, a Starbucks for mama and daddy and lots of fun shops to browse.
Tonight we’re getting sushi carry out and hanging out with my sister and her man. The weather looks promising so I anticipate we’ll spend the evening with drinks on the patio under the twinkle lights and then finish it off with a bonfire.
I’ll likely be blowing up Instagram all day long, so follow me there if you want the play-by-play.
Thank you all for taking time out of your busy lives to follow me on my little old blog. It means the world to me!
Happy birthday indeed!
