Yesterday I had an Über productive day.
I mentioned last week that I have a tendency to grade each day based on how much I accomplish. It’s not the healthiest habit, but it keeps me productive, which I love.
I gave myself an A+ yesterday and I fell into bed last night feeling like a million bucks.
As much as I felt like being lazy yesterday morning, I decided to forge ahead and make myself get some things done. Once I start cleaning the house, it creates a snowball effect and I just keep going and going. The hardest part (as with most things) is just getting started.
After deciding to vacuum the whole main floor, I just kept on moving. I dusted the living room and both bedrooms. I sorted through all the junk on Grace’s dresser and tidied it up. I cleaned the ceiling fan blades in our room (yuck!) and wiped down our stainless steel fridge and trash can with lemon oil (thanks Mom for the great tip!). Floors were scrubbed and crannies were cleaned. The summer decorations in the living room were all tucked away to make room for fall stuff. By nap time the whole house felt clean and smelled great.
During Grace’s nap, I sat out in the sun and read my library book. The forty minutes of Vitamin D production left me feeling happy and motivated.
When Grace woke up, I thought it would be fun to bring out the fall decor items that my mom gifted me at Christmas last year. I love seasonal decorations, but I’m usually too much of a cheap skate to spend any money on stuff like that, so it was the perfect gift.
She bought me a pumpkin and sunflower glass serving tray, a gorgeous fall wreath and a cute wicker pumpkin.
Setting those items up around the living room sparked my creativity to replicate these glass hurricanes from Pinterest:
So Grace and I headed to the grocery for some popcorn and over to Joann Fabrics to find faux leaves and see if they had any inexpensive fall decor.
As it turns out, Joann’s had all seasonal decor on sale for 50% off! Needless to say, I picked up some goodies :)
When we came home, we created our own fall themed hurricanes and did a pretty good job!
Then I went about adding the other goodies to the shelves and tables in the living room. I’m really excited about the transformations!
I topped off the night by watching the season premier of Parenthood and squeezing in a few more chapters of my library book before bed.
All in all it was a great day and it got me excited for fall!
Have you done any seasonal decorating? Any of your favorites shows premiered yet?
