This is the seventh business day of my retirement and so far?
I love it.
Love with a capital L.
I continue to be amazed at how normal it feels. I thought it would be strange to be here all day, everyday with no schedule except the one I create, but it feels like I’ve always done this.
Being the high-strung person that I am, I figured the intensity that I applied toward my job would re-direct in some way but for the most part I’ve been pretty chilled out.
Well, except for the fact that I have a massive to-do list that I just can’t check off fast enough! There are a bunch of projects that I want to tackle and of course I want to tackle them all at once and that’s just not possible, so I’m back to making lists.
I heart lists!
On the back of an envelope because that’s how I roll |
I think this list equates to at least 18 nap times so I’ve got my work cut out for me, but I’m excited to get this stuff done!
Other than making lists and trying not to stress out about how long it’s taking me to cross things off, I’ve been honing my hermit skills.
I really thought that I’d be all about daytime socializing once I was home all day, but lately I’m in love with long days at home…just me and Grace. I keep thinking that I should start setting up some play dates, but I’m just loving the time at home alone.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of Instagram and now that Facebook is totally annoying the crap out of me, I’ve switched my loyalties to Instagram and have been having fun capturing all of the “stay at home pleasures” I’ve been experiencing during the day.
Click the link below if you don’t have Instagram but you’d like to check out my pictures from time to time: (This is for you mom! Add it to your bookmarks :)
In fact, I’d love to get more people to post pictures of their own “stay at home pleasures” to the hashtag I created (#stayathomepleasures) so feel free to tag your pics!
Here are just a few of my #stayathomepleasures lately…
Strawberry, banana, spinach smoothie at 2:30 p.m. |
Daily Bible reading in the sun. |
My new Thirty-One bag for afternoons in the sun |
Grace “attempting” salad. Let’s just say it wasn’t a big hit. YET! |
Mowing the lawn for the first time! |
Enjoying the yard |
Laying in the shade with Grace who was more into her Crocs. Oy. |
Snuggles on the couch. |
Peanut butter french toast for breakfast. |
For a while I had a “Home Improvement” tab at the top of the blog, but I realized that it had been ages since we’d done any home improvements so I removed it. If I can manage to start checking things off my list I just may have to add it back! Keep an eye out :)
I’m just so thankful to be in this stage of life. I’m sure there are bigger mountains ahead of us but for now I’m going to savor every bit of this sweet spot.
