This morning Andy swore into the United States Navy.
I stood nearby, on the verge of tears, taking pictures as he repeated the oath after his Lieutenant Commander’s prompts.
This is real now and I’m more excited than nervous. It’s such an honor to serve our country and both Andy and I are looking forward to our new military life.
Memorial Day seemed especially meaningful yesterday. Not only were we grateful for the service of every man and woman who has gone before us, but we were also very aware it was our last Memorial Day as a civilian family.
We are blessed beyond measure to live in the United States and we feel honored to be able to give back a little by serving our country in the Navy.

I came over here to SQUEEEE all over you two and then read the last few lines and was so excited. :)
Congrats to you two – I am so proud of you both and SO thrilled to see where this takes you. I am crossing all my crossables that we end up in the same place – so our kids can build nests together.

This has been such a wonderful journey to watch…I couldn't be more proud!!!! It's men like Andy who make things happen, he is going to be an amazing Doctor! You both are a testament of what it means to do things God's way! I love you all so much….

Grandpa Jim was a medic in the Navy during WWII. He would join the rest of our family and be so proud of Andy and his service to our nation. Thankful for him and you, Rebecca, and the new direction your lives are taking. God Bless and much love.
