So, I’m a month in and it’s not going so great.
I’ve been doing really well during the week, but everything seems to fall apart on the weekends. Ugh.
Today’s Weigh-In: down 1 pound
I guess I should be happy with that number since my weekend was a real doozy, but my net loss after an entire month is only 5lbs. My goal was to be down 8lbs at this point (2lbs per week) so I’m feeling kind of discouraged.
The “old Rebecca” would have already given up. So many cheat days and so few pounds lost would have surely caused me to throw in the towel.
I’m realizing that this journey, like life, is a marathon and not a sprint. Long-term endurance is what’s really going to bring results. I’ve got to keep going…
I also have to remember that this is supposed to be a journey of health, not a numbers game. Getting obsessed with the number on the scale each week or the number on the tag of my jeans is not what is important.
The number on my blood pressure cuff? Yeah, that one is actually something to keep an eye on.
That number has come down ever so slightly. So I guess that’s a good thing.
After a weekend of parties and celebration, I’m back on the wagon. In fact, I was significantly under my daily calorie budget at the end of the day yesterday and as much as I wanted a treat last night, I resisted. I figure having a few days under budget will help make up for the food fest that was the weekend.
I’ve also decided that my semi-regular walks and bike rides are just not cutting it as far as exercise is concerned, so I think I’m going to join a gym again. Unfortunately, my favorite local gym is just too expensive to work into the budget right now, so I’m going to see if The Meat Market Bally’s can offer me a decent monthly rate.
Here’s to sticking with it!
