This afternoon I had my first sushi experience with my dear friend Sara. She has been going on about sushi for ages and today we finally went out to eat it together at Little Tree in Royal Oak.
I was definitely nervous at the beginning. Even the stuff that wasn’t raw looked creepy to me. However, I decided to jump in with both feet and go for it. We started with tempura veggies as an appetizer. Those were really good. However, pretty much anything that’s battered and deep fried is good. Then we moved onto the main event! We had salmon rolls, california rolls (because they were safe for beginners), raw tuna, and a yummy crab and cucumber salad. I think I might have been a little heavy with the wasabi, but other than that I emerged unscathed!
Now that lunch is over and I’m back to work, I can’t help but replay the tastes in my mind. Although they were scary at first, I think I might have really enjoyed it in the end. I can see how something like this can really grow on a person…I think I’ll defintely get it again sometime.

Ellen is that you?
I don’t think that I could ever eat sushi. I can’t even eat cooked fish. The smell, the texture…all gross. But I’m glad you tried it and had fun! I miss you

I haven’t had any official sushi event to usher me in, but I’m pretty sure I’ve had it. The seaweed around the edge reminds me of electrical tape and I think it tastes gross, but I think the raw fish was fine with me. Yea for wasabi!
