High On Thrifting Thursday – HOTT!

I’ve decided to start linking up with other bloggers more often now that I’ve got some extra time on my hands :)

A recurring post that’s always fun to check out is High On Thrifting Thursday (HOTT) over at Harper’s Happenings.

Mandy’s blog is chock full of adorable pictures of her little girl Harper, her daily antics as a SAHM and even some food from time to time (which I of course love).

She also takes beautiful pictures and has a fun Steppin’ Out Saturday link up each Monday morning.  I love seeing what people are wearing, so I’m pretty tempted to link up with that post from time to time too.  Let’s see if I can take a non-dorky pic of myself this weekend to participate!

For now I want to share the awesome loot I picked up at our local Value World this week!

We just popped in for a few minutes after a Target run for Student Doctor Gould to pick up some essentials (new book bag and a coffee pot to share with his study buddies).  I didn’t think we’d find much and I was really just looking for a plant stand.

We walked away with a bunch of stuff for Grace and a little for me too :)

All these books are in awesome condition and Grace is LOVING them.  The two on the left are a bit “old” for her but at $1.21 each we grabbed them anyway.

We snatched up a few summer shirts also in pristine shape!  Who are these 24 month olds who don’t ruin their clothes by eating?!  I’m sure that Grace will be the last stop for these threads.  Unless she has a sister that I don’t mind outfitting with stained shirts.  Oy.

Cute shorts for little G?  Why yes, we found 3 pairs!

I’ve been desperate for khaki shorts this summer.  You know…to go with all my fancy polo shirts.  I’m a veritable Lands End spokesperson these days.

Shameful, I know.

I entered “mom clothes” territory and thrust my flag into the ground like I’d conquered a brave new world.

I’m probably too young to turn my skinny jeans and tank tops in for khaki shorts and polos, but they’re SO. COMFY.

If you’re worried, I welcome nominations for What Not To Wear.

I picked a size that I thought would give me room to grow this summer, but much to my chagrin they are already tight :(  At least I only spent $2.70 but I’m still bummed on so many levels.

I’m SO holding onto these for next summer.  Never been worn!  Originally $42!

I saw this game years ago at Target and thought it looked kinda fun.  I wasn’t about to spend $20+ on it since it could be a total dud, but when I saw it for a whopping $1.31 I had to grab it.  I’ll let you know if it’s any good.

We had fun looking around and Grace had fun playing with the wall of toys.

Who me?

And what was the damage??

Everything added up to a massive $18.00.

Awesome.

If you’re not a thrifter I challenge you to consider it.  Sure the place smells funny and you have to dig through a bunch of crap, but you can get some really great bargains.

And a bit of a thrifters high.

Plus, it’s green!  You’re not consuming new stuff that’s been shipped from the other side of the world, you’re re-using things and saving the planet.

Its a win/win.

Give it a try :)
