Around Here Lately…
Thursday, June 7th, 2012I’ve been praying my heart out for my dear mother-in-law who just had surgery on a brain tumor that started growing again after years of being stable. The surgery went well, but the tumor has progressed since her first surgery about 6 years ago. She’ll start chemo soon to treat the 20% they were unable to remove. If you are a praying person, please lift her up. Her name is Jeanne and she’s very special to all of us.

I’m really psyched about being an official Navy wife and I’m hungry to learn all about military life. Do you think they have a U.S. Navy For Dummies book?

We recently jaunted off to Chicago for a whirlwind 24-hour visit. My cousin Jimmy married a beautiful girl named Ashley and the wedding was incredible. Gorgeous Catholic cathedral, posh riverfront venue for the reception, filet mignon and a full band. It was totally a night to remember and we had a blast catching up with my mom’s side of the family who we don’t see nearly enough of.
I made banana bread out of my black bananas for the first time in my entire marriage. I think I’ve made banana bread one or twice before, but it was a pre-planned event using average bananas, not the over-ripe black kind that are perfect for such a confection. I’ve thrown many a black banana in my freezer, but it’s served a purgatory role more than anything else. Just a holding pattern until I ultimately toss them into the trash in a de-hoarding fit. Using those black bananas tonight was very satisfying.
